INNISFIL, ON- After missing a week of action due to mechanical troubles, ‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ Thayne Hallyburton returned to action at Sunset Speedway on August 9th, racing his way to a 10th place finish in 50-lap competition.
“We had a bad alternator that kept us out last week”, explained Hallyburton. “We had a tough time tracing the problem and didn’t realize it was the alternator until this morning. The motor had developed a really bad miss, it’s a relief to have that taken care of”
The Hillsdale, ON driver was quick to express relief at taking down his first top-10 finish since mid-June, and credited his team with keeping him focused.
“Handling wise, we were still a tick off, but it just feels so good to have our wiring issues fixed”, said Hallyburton. “We made the decision to come and race at Sunset because the best drivers in Ontario are here, so any time we can run amongst the best it’s a shot in the arm for our program. I can’t thank my guys enough, it’s been an up and down season to say the least and they’ve been there every step of the way”
“No matter what’s been placed in our path, this team has found a way to overcome it. I couldn’t possibly ask for anything more than that”
With 2 events remaining on the Sunset Speedway schedule, it’s clear Hallyburton is ready to set his sights on making up for lost time.
“I want to win a race here”, stated Hallyburton matter-of-factly. “It’s been a very trying year. The car is fast when it’s running right – and we’ve taken some solace in that – but I want to get this car to victory lane. Whether it’s in weekly competition here, or one of the big fall races, I want to win and I’m willing to do whatever I have to do to get there”
The Hallyburton Brothers Racing team will enjoy a pair of off-nights from Sunset Speedway competition, before returning to action with the ‘Super Series’ on August 30th.
Thayne Hallyburton is proud to carry marketing support from Transaxle Heavy Truck Parts, Hillsdale Service Centre and Thompson Enterprises.
Fans can keep up with Thayne – and younger brother Travis – via the team’s new Hallyburton Brothers Racing page on Facebook.
