TIVERTON, ON- 2-time reigning and defending Sauble Speedway champion Scott McTeer will look to turn his luck around on August 16th, when he steps back into action for a 35-lap Ltd. Late Model feature event.
“It almost feels as though we’ve saved up all of our bad luck for one season”, offers McTeer with a smile. “The last 2 years have been a dream – this year we’ve had to work a little harder”
The Tiverton, ON veteran struggled on August 9th, suffering damage in his qualifying heat race that led to an early exit come feature time.
“We actually had a decent car in qualifying last week”, explains McTeer, “and were passing for the lead in the second heat race when we spun and ended up damaging our sway bar”
“I didn’t realize the sway bar was hurt until we were in the line-up area, ready to go for the feature”, continues McTeer. “[Jason] Parker and Marvin [Freiburger] tried to help fix it right up to the last second, but we ran out of time. If we had worked on it any longer, all three of us would have missed the feature”
McTeer attempted to nurse his car through the feature – despite the damage – but was forced to retire on lap-1 when the sway bar began to drag.
“There just wasn’t any sense in trying to push the car any further, when it was obviously broken”, says McTeer. “We have 2 races to go at Sauble, and all we can do is cross our fingers for a little bit of luck and get back out there”
“The car’s been hit and miss this season, so we might just end up going with a familiar set up to see if we can’t wake it up for the last 2 nights”, adds the multi-time feature winner.
Scott McTeer’s 2014 campaign is supported by Lake Huron Rod & Gun, www.SecretsOfTuscany.com, McGee Motors Ltd. and Carey Optical.
