HILLSDALE, ON- Thayne Hallyburton is ready for two nights of Ltd. Late Model competition at Sunset Speedway this weekend, with his sights set on his first podium of the 2014 season.
“We didn’t have the ideal month of July, but we’ve been in the shop working to make this Port City Racing chassis fast”, said Hallyburton when reached for comment, “and there’s no better way to start August off than with an opportunity for strong back-to-back performances”
‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ will look to rebound, after an electrical issue hampered the team through the entirety of July 26th’s & 27th’s events.
“We had 5 or 6 melted wires last weekend, so we went and re-wired the entire harness this week”, explained Hallyburton. “30-hours later it’s fixed and we’re ready to race this weekend”
Hallyburton will enter the weekend’s events 11th in points, and will look to move into the top-10 in points with a pair of impressive runs.
“There’s an excellent opportunity to make up some ground this weekend”, said Hallyburton. “It’s almost like a double points night. If you have a bad night on Saturday and take some damage or have some mechanical issues, it’s likely you won’t be back on Sunday”
“This type of pressure is what racing is all about”, continued the third-year Ltd. Late Model competitor, “this is why we spend the hours in the shop. We’ll be ready to go both nights, and with the way this car was handling last weekend – before our electrical issues – I expect to be able to contend for a top-5 both nights”
