HILLSDALE, ON- With a season worth of mechanical issues in his rearview mirror, Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model competitor Thayne Hallyburton hopes his poor fortune is beyond him, as his Hallyburton Brothers Racing operation prepares for September 27th & 28th’s ‘Velocity 250’ weekend.
“It definitely sounds like a cliché, but if it wasn’t for bad luck we’d have no luck at all this season”, offers Hallyburton. “Everything from transmission problems to wiring issues to front end parts breaking; it feels as though we’ve run the gauntlet this year”
The former Super Stock division standout debuted a brand new Port City by Baker chassis in the Spring, and has struggled to find consistency in his first full season as a Sunset Speedway regular.
“It hasn’t been for a lack of effort, that’s for sure”, states Hallyburton. “My guys work their hearts out on this car. We just haven’t been able to catch a break. Hopefully we can nail down a couple strong finishes in the Playoffs, and walk out of 2014 with a little bit of redemption”
‘The Hillsdale Hurricane’ will have an opportunity to turn his luck around at Sunset Speedway’s Crown Jewel ‘Velocity 250’ weekend, when he lines up alongside some of the top talent in the province, in hopes of qualifying for the 75-lap A Main on Sunday afternoon.
“The Velocity is a huge weekend, and there’s no better time for this car to come alive”, says Hallyburton. “This is our last chance to see what this car has at our hometrack, and we really think our troubles are behind us. We were strong at Barrie Speedway last weekend before the rainout, and we were fast in our last race at Sunset before we had a parts failure in the front end”
“I know that our turnaround performance is coming”, continues Hallyburton. “And I would love more than anything for it to be this weekend”
Details for this weekend, including gate times and ticket prices, can be found at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca.
Thayne Hallyburton is proud to carry marketing support from Transaxle Heavy Truck Parts, Hillsdale Service Centre and Thompson Enterprises.
