July 24, 2014- With just 7 weeks to go, Team Hume is virtually all set to compete in the 2014 Targa Newfoundland road rally. Despite a few bumps in the road to preparation, the team is set for the Rally ‘Round the Rock’.
This year we have three cars entered with John Jr and Justin Crant in the 2004 M3, John Sr and Craig MacMullen in the 2013 MINI GP and as a last minute addition, Cody Morch and Nicole Troster in the 2006 MINI GP.
Nicole and Cody are new to the team, but Cody is an experienced participant in this event. However, while Nicole is a newbie, I think they will do well. Also, we are very fortunate to have Garrett Nalepka from the Centennial College faculty join us as our Service Crew, many thanks to College Management for his use this week. He will be of great use to the team this year.
The course has been radically altered for 2014. Our transits are shorter, but the races are longer and more of them too. It should be a most entertaining and challenging time this year. It looks like there will be around 50 cars racing, a busy and experienced field of participants to be sure.
To date, we have raised $19,200 this year towards M S research. But we are hoping to hit $25,000 before race time. All donations are welcomed. Anyone or organization making any donation, will receive a tax receipt from MS for the entire amount donated as all proceeds go to M S research in Canada.
