VALLEE-JONCTION, QC (June 30, 2019)- Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) journeyed to the Autodrome Chaudière in Vallee Jonction, Quebec for round number three of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday. While thrilled to have Brett Taylor bring the #46 Wing ’n it Dodge across the finish line in the seventh position for his best ever series result, it was a challenging day for the rest of the team.
During the afternoon practice session driver Anthony Simone and the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge team struggled to find the right set up to maximize the cars ability. The team made adjustments and Simone would qualify with the ninth quickest time and roll off from the inside of row five for the 300-lap race.
With rain showers in the vicinity threatening to shorten the race all competitors including Simone in the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge were on the charge from the drop of the green flag. Simone successfully moved closer to the front of the field despite not having the best handling car.
“The team did a good job making changes to get the car better with a hurry up schedule because of the rain” said CBRT General Manager and Joey McColm.
Maintaining a comfortable spot in the top-ten runners as the race reached the mid-point and became official, the field was stopped for a competition caution to allow for fuel and fresh tires. And once again the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge team made adjustments to improve the car. When the race returned to green flag action Simone was working hard on the outside of another competitor when he clipped the wall hard damaging the car beyond repair.
“Anthony was trying to leave room on the inside but got forced up higher than he wanted to be” explained McColm.
Meanwhile Brett Taylor in the #46 Win ‘n it Dodge was working hard behind the wheel to improve with each and every lap run. The predicted rain showers would arrive stopping the race early on lap 286, but not before Taylor claimed a seventh-place finish or his best ever series result.
“The car was tight and not the way I wanted” said Taylor after the race. “But I tried to take what it gave me, and we were able to come up with a solid result” he added.
“You can see the maturity in Brett as a racer” said McColm afterwards. “He’s definitely taking another step forward and I’m excited about what’s to come this year”.
