@Subaru_Canada • @subaru • @FAN590 • @Sportsnet • #racing • TORONTO, ON – The Raceline Radio Network, Canada’s first nationally syndicated motorsport radio show and Subaru Canada, Inc. ( SCI ) are delighted to announce the renewal of their broadcast partnership for a 23rd consecutive season.
Raceline Radio Network Anchor and Producer Erik Tomas, Subaru Canada Inc. Marketing Director Geoff Craig and Sportsnet 590 The FAN Sales Executive James Ashbridge presided over the official contract signing at SCI’s corporate office in Mississauga, Ontario.
Erik Tomas re-stated The Raceline Radio Network would not exist without affiliates, listeners, fans and most important, Subaru.
“Subaru liked the concept of a nationally syndicated motorsport radio show at our very first meeting and haven’t waivered since. Looking for a media outlet to promote their high performance WRX and WRX STI models through their road rallying program, Subaru saw Raceline as the only place on radio that fit their business plan. This is season 23 of our partnership! That kind of sponsor loyalty in broadcasting and motorsport is very rare. Raceline is extremely proud of our long-standing association with Subaru, and Subaru is equally happy with the partnership. The sales numbers are indeed Epic! It’s about as close to perfect as you can get!”
Geoff Craig, Subaru’s Director of Marketing, boasts the record sales numbers speak for themselves.

“2014 was a great year for Subaru with record sales. We finished the year with over 42,000 units sold, representing more than a 14% growth from the year previous. More and more Canadians are discovering the benefits of owning a Subaru with our underlying quality, reliability, durability, all-around safety and performance. Whether it’s the utility of the Outback, Forester, or XV Crosstrek, or a family sedan with the Impreza and Legacy, or an adrenaline-pumping WRX, WRX STI or BRZ that we feature on Raceline Radio, we have a model that fits.”
Craig underlined the importance of Subaru’s commitment to the sport of road rallying in Canada with The Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru, and The North American Rally Championship. It reinforces Subaru’s message of high performance and durability.
“Rallying is truly in our DNA. It allows us to showcase our SUBARU BOXER engine’s power, and our Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive technology, featured in our vehicles. Rallying allows us to test those things on the toughest roads in Canada and North America!”
Ted Lalka, Subaru Canada Inc.’s Vice President of Product Planning and Marketing, knows their rallying program is critical for Subaru to help drive sales. That’s why the recent signing of seven-time Canadian and North American Rally Champion Antoine L’Estage and co-driver Alan Ockwell is a major step forward for the automaker’s rally effort in 2015, something that will continue to be followed closely by The Raceline Radio Network.

“We are very excited! The best driver, the best car, and the best co-driver combination is a winning strategy, and we are looking to set records this year in The Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru. You can talk about performance, but with rallying, you’ve also got the issue of durability. You go as fast as you can in some of the worst possible conditions, so you need to build a car that can withstand those gruelling conditions. It’s a testament to the brand and our reputation for making vehicles that last an incredibly long time. 96.2 % of the vehicles we’ve sold over the last 10 years are still on the road today.”
Lakla pointed out the strict safety requirements of road rallying helps Subaru build stronger, safer vehicles for the consumer.
“One of the prime objectives in rallying, other than winning, is safety. The unique ring-shaped body structure that we have instilled into each of our vehicles gives us outstanding crash test results and high ratings with The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ). It also adds rigidity to the vehicle for superior handling. Our SUBARU BOXER engine with a low center of gravity, and our Symmetrical All- Wheel Drive system give us an edge in rallying, things you can benefit from on Subaru vehicles sold to customers.”
Tomas and Lalka saluted the 23 consecutive year partnership Subaru’s enjoyed with The Raceline Radio Network.
“We are very pleased to be associated with The Raceline Radio Network! It’s a great relationship that helps us get the word out about Subaru and all the attributes we have. The proof is in our sales numbers. Over 42 thousand vehicles sold last year means Subaru us no longer a small niche brand! We’re that brand with unique vehicles, those special vehicles that are being chosen by more and more Canadians!”
