2011 Autumn Colours Classic champion ‘Handsome’ Chris Mitchell has confirmed he will race at Peterborough Speedway fulltime in 2013, as the Omemee, ON product looks to lock-up his first career Limited Late Model championship. Mitchell has not raced as a fulltime competitor in several seasons, and will join defending titlist Bryan Sudsbury, former Kawartha champion Todd Delisle and multi-time Peterborough champion Craig Graham in the race for the 2013 crown.
In addition to his weekly Peterborough commitments, ‘Handsome’ Chris is also scheduled to appear in the 3rd-annual Garry Reynolds Memorial at Barrie Speedway on September 21st as well as Sunset Speedway’s crown jewel ‘Velocity’ weekend on September 28th & 29th. Mitchell’s 2013 efforts will be supported by Rockstar Energy Drink, Dent Dynamics, Earl Ireland Auto Sales, Race Toyota, Dan McHattie Racecars, Kawartha Metals and Klotz Racing Fuel.
Multi-time Flamboro Speedway feature winner Shawn Chenoweth has confirmed he will be in action tonight (May 17th) at Delaware Speedway for the London, ON half-mile’s 2013 season opener. The 2011 Grisdale Triple Crown champion will join Delaware Late Model standouts Matt Pritiko, Jay Doerr and Tyler Hendricks in the 50-lap affair. The evening will kick off a busy double-shot for Chenoweth’s London Recreational Racing sponsored team, as the Ayr, ON driver will return to Flamboro on May 18th as he looks to further extend his championship points lead over Steve Laking and Paul Howse.
Crew chief Jeff Thomas and the rest of the Stompin’ Tom Motorsports team have sent along a very unique view from Sunset Speedway’s May 11th Late Model feature. Utilizing a go-pro camera mounted to the dash of their McColl Racing Enterprises-sponsored entry, the team captured Walters’ drive from deep in the field, to pass fan favourite Jason ‘Bam Bam’ Witty on lap-26 of 30, for his first feature win of the season. 7-time Kawartha Speedway Late Model champion ‘Old School’ Dan McHattie will make his 2013 season debut, in a brand new chassis, at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY this Saturday. McHattie will join fellow Kawartha veteran Bryan Mercer, in attempting to qualify for the 100-lap ACT Tour sanctioned event. The 2-time Autumn Colours Classic winner will see his efforts supported throughout 2013 by a multitude of new and returning sponsors, including JJ Stewart Chrysler, Uniglass plus Ziebart, Douglas Automotive, Sidey NAPA Auto Supply, Barry McClennan Masonry, Foxon Alternator/Starter, Webb

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour regular Cole Powell has announced via his twitter @ColePowell that he will be in Late Model competition tonight at Delaware Speedway. The Mt. Brydges, ON native is a graduate of the Delaware Truck division, and a former Late Model regular at the speedway. This will mark Powell’s first Late Model start since his appearance at the New Smyrna Speedway World Series of Asphalt in February.
