MATT PRITIKO: 2011 Delaware Speedway Late Model runner-up Matt Pritiko has announced his plans for the 2012 season. The London, ON driver will return to Delaware fulltime once again, in search of his first career short-track championship, on the heels of a stellar 2011 campaign. Opening night will mark the debut of Pritiko’s own Matt Pritiko Motorsports operation, after competing with Urlin Motorsports the past 2 seasons.

The team will compete with a brand new McColl Racing Enterprises chassis, with technical support coming from veterans Ron Pearn and Jim Ireland. In addition to the full Delaware Speedway schedule, Pritiko will also compete in Sunset Speedway’s 4-race Pro Late Model mini-series and plans on making an appearance at Sauble’s heralded Beat The Heat 150 event with additional events to be added. Global Warranty will return as Pritiko’s primary sponsor, with additional support coming from Budget Rental Cars, Burwell Auto Body and HYPE Energy Drink.

NEW SMYRNA BOUND: Brother-in-law tag team Brent Wheller and Brad Corcoran have added their names to the growing list of Canadian drivers making the trip to New Smyrna Speedway for the 2012 edition of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. Wheller, who competed in 2011 as a member of the Sunset Speedway Mini Stock division will pilot a former Rick Emery-owned McColl Racing Enterprises chassis that was debuted at Flamboro’s Oktoberfest.

Corcoran, a Flamboro Speedway Late Model regular, will debut a car picked up from 2011 PASS South Super Late Model champion Ryan Blaney. Both drivers will compete alongside Canadians Jason Parker, Riley Emmel, Cole Powell, Noel Dowler, Kirk Hooker, Dwayne Baker and Andrew Gresel in the Pro Late Model division.

BEATTY AIMS FOR SUNSET TITLE: 2006 Kawartha Speedway Thunder Car champion Donny Beatty has confirmed he will compete for the 2012 Sunset Speedway Super Stock championship. The Beaverton, ON veteran, with the help of his wife Linda, has resurrected his team to compete full-time for the first season in 3 years. Instead of fielding a trademark Pontiac LeMans, Beatty has instead purchased a Camaro from Sunset veteran Flyin’ Frank Davey. Beatty’s 2012 efforts will carry sponsorship from Wintermere Sod Growers, Nick Oram Auto Body, Durham Furnace Heating & Cooling, Junior’s Tire Service of North Bay, Rob Mason Mortgage Brokers, MAC Tools and Lakeview Property Maintenance.

OSCAAR VETERAN CHARLIE GALLANT will return to the province’s premier touring series in 2012 in search of his first series title. The Pefferlaw, ON driver will have a proven chassis underneath him, as he has purchased a Port City Racecars chassis from 4-time series champion Glenn Watson. 2012 will mark Gallant’s 5th season with the OSCAAR Tour, and with a step-up in equipment, enters this campaign as a favourite for a break-out season. Watson, on the other hand, has already taken delivery of a brand new 2012 Port City chassis that the veteran will use in his pursuit of a record-tying 5th series championship.
