Here’s a shot of former Barrie Speedway champion Dwayne Baker’s brand new Port City chassis, set for competition in 2012. The 2007 Barrie Speedway Limited Late Model champion, Baker will be returning to the 1/3 mile oval after a 3-year hiatus that saw the Stayner, ON veteran compile impressive results while competing at Sunset Speedway.
‘The Bully’s 2012 efforts will enjoy backing from Centennial Chrysler, Zancor Homes, Clearview Heating, Unitech, Baker Performance Parts and Port City Racecars. The team would also like to thank Harley Boeve of Port City Racecars and JR Hanley for their work in getting the car ready for competition this Saturday.

MATT BARTON: Ontario Legends Series graduate Matt Barton is set to join the upstart OSCAAR Modified tour for its 2012 campaign, and sent along a shot of his immaculately prepared ride. The Howe chassis was last raced at Delaware Speedway by veteran Modified competitor Tony Viera, but has since enjoyed a complete rebuild courtesy of Barton’s MDB Racecars. Barton will enjoy support from Velocity Signs this season, and will be in action with the rest of the tour when the OSCAAR Modifieds begin their inaugural season May 20th at Sunset Speedway.

MIKE BENTLEY: 2011 Oktoberfest champion Mike ‘Lights Out’ Bentley has sent along a photo of his new-look ride for 2012. The Acton, ON driver will return to Sunset Speedway for a fulltime campaign in 2012, as he looks towards competing for his first career Limited Late Model track championship. The 24-year old has also confirmed he will run the entirety of Sunset’s McColl Racing Enterprises Pro Series, competing alongside provincial standouts Andrew Gresel, Matt Pritiko, Steve Laking and David Elliott. In addition to his Sunser commitments, Bentley also looks to return to Barrie Speedway for the 2nd Annual Gary Reynolds Memorial show, after winning the inaugural event in 2011.

SIMCOE COUNTY’S off-season is officially over as of this Saturday, with both Sunset Speedway and Barrie Speedway kicking off their 2012 programs. Barrie Speedway will welcome the 2012 season, with a 7:00 pm start. The track’s Limited Late Model division, including defending champion Ron Quesnelle, returning favourite Dwayne Baker and former champions Al Inglis, Gord ‘The Smoke’ Shepherd and Keith McLeod will headline Barrie’s card, with support from the Thunder Car and Pure Stock divisions.
And just south of Barrie, Sunset’s season opener will see the green flag fly at 6:00 pm with the Limited Late Models – featuring defending champion Kevin Cornelius, 28-time champion Stompin’ Tom Walters, 2011 Velocity 250 winner Sean Cronan, 2011 Oktoberfest winner Mike ‘Lights Out’ Bentley, up-and-comer ‘Hollywood’ Taylor Holdaway, the debut of multi-time Canadian Vintage Modified champion Gary Elliott and more – headlining, complimented by the Super Stock and Mini Stock divisions.
