FREDERICTON, NB – Richard Atkinson is still looking for his first Speedway 660 feature victory of the year. But the popular Geary driver is making a habit of finishing on the podium in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division. On Saturday night Atkinson finished second for the second straight week in the 30-lap Sportsman feature. Two weeks ago Atkinson finished third. Brent Roy won the race over Atkinson, while Glyn Nott came home third. Mark Harris won his sportsman heat and the dash, while Dave Biggar won the other heat.
“I really don’t know what to say, this is an unbelievable run for the third straight week,” said Atkinson. “Three podium finishes at Speedway 660 is a big accomplishment for us and we hope to have another one next week at the Martin’s Home Heating hundred lapper.”
The A.L. Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stock division feature had several early cautions before Greg Fahey headed to the front of the pack to drive away with his 2nd win of the season. Kevin Moore from Fredericton finished second behind the defending champion from St. Stephen. Dave O’Blenis, from Boundary Creek drove home third. Derek Christie won his heat race and the dash, while Brian Gillespie won the other heat. Following post race inspection Greg Fahey was moved to the rear of the field after failing post-race inspection.
It was a great night for Benji Ruff in the RV World Street Stock Division. The former Enduro driver from Carlow won the feature, the dash and his heat. Josh Arbeau finished second in the feature, while Roger Slocum took third. Jack Lane won the other street stock heat.
Dawson McIntee, from Moncton took first place in the Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero Division. McIntee also won his heat race. The other heat winner was Cole Tanner who came home third in the feature. Cole Boudreau was second in the feature.
Luc McLaughlin, from Geary, took top spot in the 4 cylinder feature. Another Geary driver, T.J. Madore was second while Jeremy Doran took third. McLaughlin also won his heat, while the other heat victory went to Doran.
