HALIFAX, NS – Riverview, NB’s Mike Stevens took the opportunity to get his #4 R Stevens Mechanical / G Bourque Arctic CAT Ford Fusion past local favourite Donald Chisholm (Antigonish) on lap 84 when they hit some lapped traffic and then held on to win the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 100 at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday Night.
Chisholm had a tire go down right after which he never recovered from that allowed Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) to cross the line shortly after Stevens for second place in his #8 Vector Aerospace / H&P Glover Dodge Charger. Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) took the final spot on the podium while running the #13 King Freight Ford Fusion belonging to Rollie MacDonald. Rounding out the top five was #88 George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS) and #97 John Flemming (Halifax, NS).
Although he finished 20th at the end of the night, Chisholm had a dominant car throughout the afternoon and evening, shown with his Atlantic Tiltload Time Trial Fast Time of 14.379 sec, Linde Most Laps Led Award, and King Freight Halfway Award. Chisholm’s team mate Koszkulics grabbed the Absolute Traffic Hard Charger Award with his fourth place finish after starting in the 15th position. Along with the win, Stevens was also the Fast Eddie Dash For Cash Winner.
