WETASKIWIN, AB (July 27, 2019)- Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) with driver Anthony Simone in the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge showed plenty of speed during round number seven of the 2019 NASCAR Pinty’s Series at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta this past Saturday night. Simone powered started from the outside of row two for the 300-lap feature event and claimed a top-ten finish.
The annual western swing for the Pinty’s Series can be grueling with three races in just four days. Weather has also played havoc with this year’s events and while the afternoon practice was shortened due to showers, the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge showed plenty of speed.
“We showed what we’re capable of” said CBRT General Manager Joey McColm. “The car was well prepared, and the results were there with Anthony” he added.
Rain would wash out the qualifying session and as per the rulebook cars lined up according to practice speeds which put the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge on the outside of row two for the 300-lap main event. The showers also cleared the track of racing rubber which resulted in a somewhat ill handling car for Simone.
During the first half of the race Simone did lose several positions on track but at the same time was assessing what the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge needed in adjustments during the scheduled break at the midway point. Simone also used all his driving talent to maintain touch with the leaders.
While under the caution period break for service the #1 Silverline Tools Dodge team made a number of changes to the car that made a noticeable difference in performance.
“In the second half the car just took off” said driver Anthony Simone.
In the late stages of the race showers once again returned to the speedway and NASCAR officials were forced to end the race on lap 275 giving the #1 Silverline Dodge a ninth-place finish.
“I really like how our group performed today under very tough conditions” said McColm. “When the track changed, we adapted and made the necessary adjustments to help Anthony and that resulted in another top-ten finish. Great job and a good way to finish up this western stretch of races” he added.
The NASCAR Pinty’s Series returns to action August at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres in Trois Rivieres, QC.
