WETASKIWIN, AB (July 27, 2019)- The annual western swing in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series was very successful for Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team. Following two podium finishes earlier in the week Ranger captured his third victory of the season at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta during round seven of the 2019 championship.
Riding the momentum from a third-place finish and win during the double-header event in Saskatoon Ranger showed plenty of speed in the afternoon practice session for the scheduled 300-lap event Saturday evening. As has been the case for much of this season, rain showers disrupted the schedule and forced cancellation of the qualifying runs. Teams lined up according to practice speeds and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge started the race in the third position.
“I knew we had a fast car from the practice” said Ranger. “And I expected us to be strong during the race” he added.
With weather again looming, Ranger wasted no time pushing the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge toward the front and took over the race lead on lap 28 and held the point comfortably until the scheduled midway caution period for fuel and fresh tires.
“The team did a great job preparing the car” said Ranger. “I was just a little bit tight at the end of the first half and they made an adjustment during the pit stop and we were even better” he stated.
Ranger continued his dominating ways with the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge in the second part of the race, leading more than 250-laps in the event. Persistent rain showers returned and forced NASCAR officials to halt the race on lap 275 giving Ranger the win, but no one was going to catch the Roxton Pond, Quebec driver regardless of how many laps they ran.
“I’m so happy for my whole team” said Ranger after being showered with water in celebration of his 27thseries win. “They did such a good job preparing the car, I have to thank Mopar and everyone involved. Back to back wins and three this season, we helped our lead with the championship, and we want to keep going” he added.
With seven of the 13 races on the 2019 schedule now complete, Andrew Ranger leads the championship by 18 points over the second-place driver.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge are back in action at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres August 11thin Trois Rivieres, QC. Ranger is a four-time winner of this event.
