FLAMBORO, ON- London Recreational Racing’s Shawn Chenoweth earned his second victory of the APC Challenge mini-series on July 20th, defeating a healthy field of Flamboro and Delaware Speedway Thunder Car regulars in twin 50-lap feature events.
Chenoweth coupled a victory and a fourth place finish for an overall score of ‘5’ to earn the overall win, propelling him into the points lead with 3 events remaining in the mini-series.
“This car was a rocket today”, said Chenoweth post-race. “We fought like crazy when we first debuted this car, but it definitely feels like all the bugs are out of it now. We could put it anywhere we needed to today. It was on rails”
The victory came just days after Chenoweth announced he would be stepping back from his Pro Late Model program, to focus on his Thunder Car before joining the OSCAAR Super Late Model tour in September.
“While we work on the Super Late and get it ready, the Thunder Car will be our primary focus at the speedway”, Chenoweth explained. “There are quite a few events coming up that have caught our eye, so we should be able to get a tonne of seat time in this beast over the next month or so, across the province”
Chenoweth’s win continues a recent London Recreational Racing hot streak that has team boss Mike Schmidt as excited as ever.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our performance these last few weeks”, beamed Schmidt, “this team is incredible. We had a clean sweep at Flamboro last week for the first time ever, with Russ [Aicken] winning the Mini Stock feature and Shawn taking the Late Model and Thunder Car features and then tonight we had an all-LRR front row with Shawn and Brad [Collison]”
“Our guys work incredibly hard, and the results are certainly proof of that”, added Schmidt.
Chenoweth will be back in action in Round 4 of the APC Challenge Series this Friday, July 25th at Delaware Speedway. Details can be found at www.DelawareSpeedway.com.
