INNISFIL, ON- Ltd. Late Model veteran Sean Cronan dominated August 30th competition at Sunset Speedway, leading all 50-laps for the first ‘Super Series’ win of his 2014 season.
The Craighurst, ON-based driver drew a ‘1’ in the pre-race invert, putting his No. 84 McLaren Equipment/GreenSteelRoof.ca Chevrolet on the pole for the 50-lap affair.
Cronan employed an aggressive pace throughout the event, pulling away to a comfortable lead numerous times through the 50-lap race. In the dying laps, the former ‘Velocity 250’ champion turned back a number of spirited challenges from 7-time champion Chris Morrow and fellow rising star Taylor Holdaway.
“That was a great race”, smiled Cronan in victory lane. “Morrow gave me everything he had. Outrunning him is huge. He’s the master on those restarts. I learned a thing or two tonight from him that I might be able to use in the next few weeks”
“We had a great car tonight. I can’t thank my team enough”, continued Cronan. “This is the type of performance we’ve been working towards all year”
“This wouldn’t be possible without my team. Shawn Murray, Ryan Corrigan and Rick Dobson make this happen. I’m away a lot for work, and these guys step up and get the car taken care of at the shop. I’m so stoked to have them as a part of our program”
The late-season victory earns Cronan some much-needed momentum, as he prepares for a full run towards the Ontario Short Track Playoff Season. Cronan announced in victory lane that his team plans to compete in Barrie Speedway’s ‘Garry Reynolds Memorial’ on September 20th, Sunset Speedway’s ‘Velocity 250’ on September 27th & 28th and Peterborough Speedway’s ‘Autumn Colours Classic’ on October 10th, 11th & 12th.
“We’re heating up at the right time”, smiled Cronan upon clearing post-race inspection. “This car has gotten faster every week we’ve had it on track. I have a pretty big list of races that I’ve had my eye on for a few years now, maybe this is the season that I can get to victory lane and cross a couple of them off of it”
