TIVERTON, ON- One week after battling an ill-handling car to a 6th place finish, Scott McTeer is hoping for a change of fortunes as he heads back to weekly competition at Sauble Speedway.
“We didn’t have the car that we wanted on Saturday [August 2nd]”, explains McTeer. “It went away almost immediately, and by the time the checkered was out, I was barely hanging on”
“That seems to be the way this season has gone. We’ve tried experimenting with a few different setup combinations to try and wake this car up, and some nights it just doesn’t go our way”
McTeer enters August 10th’s event 20-points back of Sauble Speedway leader Jason Parker. With 3 nights remaining, McTeer realizes he’ll need a healthy dosage of good fortune to jump back into championship contention.
“Right now, all we can do is worry about our own program”, says McTeer. “I’m going to unload at the speedway and work to make my car perform as best I can. The points are out of our control. With 3 nights to go, Parker would need to run into some bad luck for us to make it close, and I would never wish that on another driver”
“This weekend, I’m racing for my team”, continues McTeer. “These guys have worked their hearts out all season trying to figure this car out, so hopefully I can bring them back a finish they can be proud of”
