HALIFAX, NS – Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB), in his #52 Rockico Equipment Chevrolet Impala, crossed the finish line first to win the rain delayed Lockhart Truck Center 100 at Scotia Speedworld on Sunday afternoon. The rain on Saturday forced the race to run a day later than originally scheduled. Also in Victory Lane to complete the podium was #89 Keltic Ford/Nova Construction Ford Fusion wheeled by Donald Chisholm (Antigonish) and the #97 Dodge Charger driven by John Flemming (Halifax). Shawn Turple (Enfield) in his #0 Dexter Construction/Municipal Group Chevrolet Impala bested Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) and the #18 Shaw’s Towing Service/MacKinnon Bros Service Chevrolet Impala for fourth place to round out the top five.
The weather also forced the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials, Fast Eddie Dash For Cash, and Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races to be cancelled in order to ensure the race was completed. The starting lineup was dictated by the current point standings. Tucker grabbed the King Freight Lines Halfway and Linde Most Laps Led Awards by taking the lead on lap 22 and holding onto it until the checkered flag flew. #91 Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) was the top finishing Exide Batteries Rookie after finishing in 15th place, while #11 Marty Prevost (Fall River) climbed his way to 7th place from 25th to take the Absolute Traffic Services Hard Charger Award. Only three cautions slowed the race.
Following the Lockhart Truck Center 100, fans were treated to 50 laps of Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series racing which was won by #4 Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake). The rest of the top five included #3 Darren Wallage (Elmsdale), #54 Phil Barkhouse Jr (Dartmouth, NS), #44 Russell Smith Jr(Lakeside), and #95 Mike Banks(Wilmot). The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heads to beautiful Prince Edward Island next Saturday, June 30, for the Lucas Oil 100. Tickets for the Lucas Oil 100 will be available at the gate on race day (cash only). Complete event information can be found at www.maritimeprostocktour.com.
