TORONTO, ON (March 15, 2022)- Making their debut on the Super Production Challenge tour last season, for the 2022 campaign RySpec will launch a double-barrelled attack as the Toronto, ON-based team will field a pair of Toyota 86 in pursuit of the Production Class championship.
“I believe that the Production Class is the most competitive in the SPC,” revealed RySpec Team Principal Richard Yin. “It may not be the fastest division that races in the SPC, but the talent level is very high and the racing is incredibly close. And I understand that several new young drivers will be making the jump into the series and production class, so that will surely tighten up the racing even more.”
Each Toyota in this year’s title hunt has a confirmed pilot assigned to it, the seats are filled by Owen Clarke from Mountain, ON and Kai Dalziel from Ajax, ON.
“Both of these drivers come to us with experience in karting and in the Sentra Cup series,” said Yin. “Owen ran several races in the Radical Cup series, in both Canada and in the States with us, and had no problem reaching the winner’s circle.” “This is a very professionally run team, these people really strive to win,” stated Clarke. “I think I have built a solid foundation with the team through our experiences in Radical racing and coming into this new series I feel comfortable with the relationship that I’ve developed with the team members.”
Added Dalziel, “I watched the RySpec effort last year and was very impressed with their work ethic and positive attitude. Running a two-car team I think is of great benefit to Owen and I and I look forward to having him as a teammate.”
Before the green flag drops on the 12-race, 2022 SPC campaign, RySpec is planning on doing extensive testing with both the cars and drivers.
“We’ve already completed a three-day test at COTA and we will be testing again in March at Barber Motorsports Park,” confirmed Yin. “In a series as competitive as the SPC, we want the car to be well engineered before the Canadian racing season starts.”
Yin concluded, “We know we will have a solid platform and team to enter the season, but to maximize our potential that means getting the cars, drivers and crew up to speed before we head to the first race at Mosport.”
