MILLGROVE, Ontario (March 15, 2022)— The pieces are beginning to fall in place for the upcoming season at Flamboro Speedway, as the track is proud to announce Kevin Small will be joining as the new track announcer.

“I am really excited about this opportunity to work with the great staff at Flamboro,” he said. “Hopefully I am able to bring the same amount of energy and passion that Gary did for the past number of years! Everyone has put some great things in place to make 2022 a fantastic year and I am looking forward to being a part of it.”

Kevin Small has been involved in the sport for a number of years, previously serving as the spotter for Brent and Brian McLean in Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified competition. He also had the opportunity to spot for Gary Klutt in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, as well as select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitors when they ran Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Small should be a natural behind the microphone, as he was the main arena announcer for two seasons for the Brampton Jr Canadettes, doing starting line-ups and PA announcing. He also has experience in the motorsports realm, previously joining Clayton Johns at Full Throttle Motor Speedway and with OSCAAR Modified heats to help out.

As previously announced, Gary Colling will remain the speedway after spending the past six years announcing and running the social media content, serving as the General Manger of Motorsports. Through the past couple seasons, Colling has been instrumental in some of the decisions made with regards to the structure of the racing program, while finding ways to promote the speedway through social media and announcing. His new role with the track will allow him to have a larger footprint in that regard, with eyes focused on making the 2022 campaign as successful as possible.

Stay tuned to the Flamboro Speedway social media pages and website as further staff announcements are coming.

The 2022 campaign is expected to be an exciting season full of action, featuring weekly racing beginning on Saturday, April 30, all the way until Saturday, October 22.

The track’s core divisions are back on the calendar for 2022 – Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, and the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, each ready to offer their own dish of entertainment. With over 100 different competitors across the divisions last year, fans were thrilled by door-to-door side-by-racing racing on a weekly basis, producing several different feature winners.

Of note, the ever-popular Grisdale Triple Crown will once again be a feature statement on the schedule. The three 100-lap features will be run on June 11, August 6, and October 2, with points given out by finishing position. The driver who has the most at the end of the final event will be crowned the 2022 Champion. The battle is expected to go right down to the wire as Shae Gemmell looks to make it three in a row.

There’s also the Pot of Gold 300, set to take place on Sunday, September 4 on Labour Day weekend. No matter the amount of cars in the field, the winner will be taking home $50,000 when the event is over. Second place will be paid $10,000, with $5,000 for third, $3,000 for fourth, and $2,000 for fifth.

The track has a history of putting on thrilling Enduros, as evident with the year-end Halloween Enduro each season. We’ve become used to everyone having fun and getting together to the end year off with excitement and entertainment, so why not do that a little earlier in the year? The event will be an Enduro, consisting of 300 laps broken into two parts. The first 250 laps will be ran, with the top 50 transferring to the final 50 laps to battle it out for the money.
