Stroud, ON (June 24, 2017)- Despite being involved in an incident mid-way through the feature, Ryan Semple rebounded for a top-10 finish at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
The first heat did not go well as Semple went for a pair of spins after contact, resulting in a ninth-place finish. He then backed it up with a runner-up finish in his second qualifier.
Starting 16th in the 30-lap feature, he began to make up ground early, running 14th as of the first caution at Lap 7. He was then set to make up more ground, however contact in turns one and two resulted in him going around for a spin.
Restarting 19th with 22 laps to go, he avoided the chaos on a restart when the leader got spun to get through the turn without any damage, moving up to the 15th position. Once the green flag flew, he continued to make up ground, running 11th as of the halfway point.
He continued to move forward, running ninth as of Lap 21. He’d battle hard through the final laps, though ultimately crossed the finish line in the 10th position.
So far this season, Semple has been impressive on a weekly basis, with this past weekend marking his first finish outside of the top-five. He will look to capture his first feature victory of the year on July 1.
