NORWOOD, ON- Eager to follow up on a 7th place finish at May 4th’s Spring Derby 100, Flyin’ Ryan Kimball and the Janzen Racing team have announced their intentions to return to Sunset Speedway on May 10th for the APC 100 Pro Late Model Invitational.
“We learned a lot about the way this car and setup reacts on long runs last weekend”, explains Kimball. “I haven’t had many starts in Wally [Janzen]’s car, so every single start is a little like a test session”
The pair began working together late in 2013, and will reunite this season with the goal of earning Janzen his first career victory as a team-owner.
“I’d love more than anything to be the driver that gets Wally his first win”, says Kimball. “I like our chances at Sunset. It’s one of my better tracks. I’ve won there before in a Pro Late Model event, which gives us a tonne of confidence heading into the weekend”
When asked how he measures up to the rest of the entry list, Kimball’s voice fills with confidence.
“This is one of the best cars I’ve ever sat in. Without question, I think we have a chance of contending for a win at the APC 100. We didn’t quite have the setup under us that we needed last Sunday, but we know exactly what we need to change”
“I made things a little tougher on us, when I didn’t get the qualifying result we were hoping for”, continues Kimball. “We recovered well, but anytime you have to come from deep in the field it’s tough on your equipment. We definitely anticipate a better time trialing effort this weekend”
Kimball closes by pointing out his penchant for extended-distance races, and how well his style compliments them.
“I prefer races that allow you to find your groove a little bit. When you’re racing your fellow drivers and working to save your own equipment all at once, it turns into a chess match. I feel like some of my best races have been 75 and 100-lappers, hopefully May 10th is no different”
Flyin’ Ryan Kimball’s McColl Racing Enterprises chassis carries sponsorship and support from Janzen Racing and the Landing Strip Gentleman’s Club of Toronto.
