Vernon, BC. July 14, 2013. Martin Roy was unable to recover lost ground at today’s A&W Cruisin’ The Dub at Motoplex Speedyway and Event Park, but was able to hang on to his positioning in the season standings.
The #90 Batteries Expert/Gamache/Veloce Dodge ran well before arriving in Vernon but the team worked to make it even better during practice. Their efforts paid off, Roy was able to capture a solid sixth place qualifying time.
When the main event kicked off, Roy ran near the front in the early going. However, when #90 his scheduled stop for tires the crew members had trouble with one of the air guns. The crew worked quickly to resolve the issue and complete the stop, but Roy went down two laps. He soldiered through the remaining laps but was unable to recover.
The #90 Dodge crossed the finish line in 11th place.
“We had a tough night,” Roy said later. “The car was very fast but getting down early hurt us. We were as fast as the front runners”
Roy and his crew are keeping their heads up and looking forward to the race in Saskatoon later this week. Despite the unfavorable outcome in Vernon, Roy is still hanging on to his fifth place positioning in the season standings, with 171 points.
