Vernon, BC. July 14, 2013. Ron Beauchamp Jr.’s satisfying performance at today’s A&W Cruisin’ The Dub 300 lifted him to a top 10 position in the season standings. Beauchamp was in the hunt for redemption after a disappointing 15th place finish in last week’s Jiffy Lube 100 in Mirabel, Que.
The team spent a good portion of practice working to improve the handling on #60’s Mopar Parts/Exide/Pennzoil Dodge. They eventually made their way to qualifying, earning a 13th place start.
The driver of the #60 had a scare early on, almost putting an end to the race before it started. Beauchamp was spun out on the first lap, a frustrating reminder of the string of incidents he’s suffered this season at the hands of other drivers. #60 was able to recover from the encounter, despite his vehicle running a little bit tight afterwards.
Beauchamp charged through the field, running as high as second place. His pace was interrupted on restarts, shuffling him back a few spots as the race progressed. Late in the contest, Beauchamp edged his way into the top five, but eventually finished sixth.
“It was a good bounce back for the team,” Beauchamp said after the race. “The car wasn’t perfect but we were fast all night. We definitely have some momentum going into the next race at Saskatoon.”
Beauchamp has collected 152 points on the season, pushing him into the season standing’s top 10 after today.
