The 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series opening event takes place this weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Formerly Mosport International Raceway) this coming weekend. Driver of the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the team have worked hard at preparations during the off season and expect solid results this weekend and all season long.

According to Beauchamp there is a real sense of optimism and excitement within the entire team. Some of that comes from bringing aboard new Crew Chief Deon Deneau. “At the end of last season we determined that we needed to make some changes” said Beauchamp. “After meeting with Deon and hearing how passionate he was and looking at his record of success in ASA we knew he’d be a great fit.

In addition to preparing cars during the winter months in the race shop the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge team has been out testing in advance of the race season and has made considerable strides. “We made some changes to the car during the winter” explained Beauchamp. “When we got out on the track testing we learned that the changes we made were the right ones and we expect to be strong right from the start” he added.

A slight change to this year’s race schedule has back to back road course events to open the season. “Our performance on the road courses wasn’t where it needed to be last year” said Beauchamp. “But we’re not going to let that happen again. With all the improvements we’ve made to the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge this year we expect to be competitive every weekend” he stated.

Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the #60 Mopar Parts/Mobil 1/Exide Batteries Dodge team will practice & qualify this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Saturday. The first race of the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series takes place Sunday afternoon at 1:30PM. Fans can also watch the race on TSN on Sunday May 27th at 4:30PM.
