(July 12, 2017) TORONTO, ON – With a promising start to his season, Robin Buck is back on track this weekend in the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge for round number five the NASCAR Pinty’s Series on Saturday afternoon during the Toronto Indy at Exhibition Place. Buck is a former winner at the Toronto track is looking forward to more success.
This will be the second outing of 2017 for Buck in the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Dodge prepared by Avion Motorsports.
“We had a positive start to the year at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP),” said Buck. “A few growing pains as you’d expect with any new venture but we’ve taken what we learned and I’m excited to get back in action this weekend.”
Buck has a long history with the track that winds through the city streets going back as far as the 1990’s with the Player’s Series and was a winner in 2002 in the CASCAR Super Series and always enjoys racing at this event.
“It’s been a terrific event for more than 30 years. With big crowds and a weekend festival surrounding the race. It’s one of our most important events of the year,” said Buck.
With a new hotel going up on the Exhibition Place grounds a slight reconfiguration of the course took place last year.
“The final sequence of corners, 9, 10 and 11 is very tight and very bumpy,” explained Buck. “You have to get through there carefully and make sure you get a good run onto the straightaway. There’s chances to make gains but you could also wind up losing spots if you get too aggressive, there’s a very small margin of error”.
The key according to Buck is “taking advantage of opportunities and putting yourself in a good position for the end of the race.”
Said Buck. “With these heavy cars you have to manage the brakes. That’s something we’ll be focused on with the #43 car and with what we learned in the opener I like our chances”.
Robin Buck and the #43 Ontario Chrysler Dealers Challenger team hit the track for practice and qualifying this Friday and will take the green flag for the 100km race Saturday afternoon at 3:45PM ET.
The race will be broadcast on TSN2 on Saturday July 22nd at 2PM ET.
