PETERBOROUGH, ON (June 21, 2018)- Hopeful to turn their luck around at Peterborough Speedway, things did not go according to plan this past Saturday night for Spencer-Walt Motorsports.
Turning the fifth quickest time in qualifying, Rick Spencer-Walt would draw the pole starting spot for the 100-lap main event. Things started off solidly, as he would lead the first 20 laps, poised for a strong night, when contact from behind on Lap 21 sent Spencer-Walt for a spin.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he began to work his way back forward once again, and he would manage to break his way back into the top-10 as the race reached the halfway point. However, it wasn’t meant to be, as contact from another competitor sent Spencer-Walt around for a second time at Lap 54, ending his night early. He would be credited with a 22nd-place finish.
Despite the past couple of weeks not going as planned for Spencer-Walt Motorsports, they have not given up, with hours being spent in the shop getting ready for their next outing. The next date is currently to be determined, as the team re-evaluates their options heading into the second half of the season.
