STE-ANNE-DES-LACS, QC – This weekend, Quebec driver Rémy Audette will contest the ‘’ICAR Sundown’’ in Mirabel, at the wheel of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX. During his inaugural race in this series just ten days ago at the Grand Prix du Canada, he turned heads by finishing on the podium in both rounds. This weekend, Rémy is eyeing nothing less than victory.
Last year’s F2000 Series champion in the United States, Rémy Audette contested his Canadian Touring Car Championship debut earlier this month. On the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, Rémy stormed onto the scene, earning the pole position as well as second place in each of the two double-header rounds. On the Circuit ICAR de Mirabel, he said he’s confident to do even better. “In Montréal, I was there to get experience and to learn the car a little more,” Audette said. “It went extremely well by finishing with second place spots but we know that ICAR is a track that really suits our car so this time around, I’m looking to climb one more spot on the podium and come home with the victory.”
At the Circuit ICAR de Mirabel, a car’s power is less of a winning determinant because the track is fairly twisty, which suits Rémy just fine. “We didn’t modify the car at all since Montréal, just our usual pre-race preparations. It was already competitive and it will be even more so at ICAR where power plays a smaller role in the outcome. In addition, we have a very reliable and agile vehicle, which is such an asset on this circuit,” he said. “I’ve done a few test sessions there and I like it a lot now that it’s been lengthened, the track’s improvements have made it so much more fun than before!”
The Audette Racing Team will be showing up with a reduced staff to this race, which falls on Quebec’s St-Jean holiday weekend. Mathieu Audette, Rémy’s brother and team leader when he’s not in the driver’s seat, will be among those absent. “It’s the closest race to home and I’m not worried that there will only be four of us to take care of the car. It’ll be a typical race weekend with one race on Saturday and one on Sunday,” said Audette.
The 2012 ‘’ICAR Sundown’’ activities will start on Saturday morning with the Canadian Touring Car Championship’s practices from 9:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m, followed by the only qualifying session from 11:20 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. The first race will take place on Saturday at 3:20 p.m., with the second race on Sunday ay 12:55 p.m.
The Audette Racing Team is contesting the entire Canadian Touring Car Championship with Mathieu and Rémy Audette as alternating drivers. The team benefits form the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Evotech, Milette Portes, Gulf, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
