TROIS RIVIERES, QC (August 12, 2018)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team had a remarkable record of success at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres (GP3R). With four victories and seven runner-up finishes Ranger was expecting to continue his string of success during round eight of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday. Heavy contact from another competitor ruined what looked to be another promising finish.

During the Saturday qualifying session Ranger posted the second quickest time in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and would start the race on the outside of row one.

“The car was a little bit off in practice but the team made an adjustment and it was better. I came up a little short for the pole but I knew we’d have a strong car for the race,” said Ranger.

When the green flag waved to signal the start of the 50-lap race Ranger was immediately looking for a way around the leader. The race was slowed a total of eight times by yellow flags and action was furious at times. All the while Ranger remained near the front of the field looking to push the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge into top spot.

On one of the restarts in the second half of the race Ranger was looking to take over the lead but the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was body slammed by another competitor during some aggressive action. The contact sent Ranger into the tire barrier and out of contention for the victory. He soldiered the car home with a very disappointing 15th place finish.

“I’m really upset,” said the driver afterwards. “I had a very good car today and had a chance to win. But another driver made a mistake and got wide and then drove into me when he tried to fight back and I’m the one who winds up punished. I’m tired of being the victim,” said the dejected Ranger.
