TROIS RIVIERES, QC (August 12, 2018)- DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team continued their string of solid race results during round eight of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past weekend, the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres. Kennington is a former winner of the famed road race in the town between Montreal and Quebec City and once again continued his consistently strong finishes this season.
During the Saturday afternoon practice session Kennington ran only a few laps in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge as the car felt very good.
“I was really happy with the car and based on our experience I knew we’d be good for the race and just wanted to decent starting spot,” said the driver.
Kennington would begin the 50-lap feature event on Sunday from the fifth position and battled hard right from the start, as action was aggressive from all competitors.
“Guys were really pushing hard early but I know that’s not the way to go,” explained Kennington. “We just stayed in the hunt and looked to be there for the final 10 laps,” he added.
A miscue during a mandatory fuel stop would however set Kennington back in the field.
“We had an issue getting the fuel can disengaged and had to make another stop with a penalty and it set us back unfortunately” he stated.
Undeterred Kennington set about pushing the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge back toward the front of the field and as the race moved on achieved his goal and claimed a sixth place finish.
“We had to fight for it today” he said afterwards. “We had that setback early but the car was really good, the whole Castrol Edge team did a great job and I was able to climb back, just missed out on a top five but we’re already excited for next week at Riverside”.
After eight events DJ Kennington sits fifth in the overall championship.
The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team return to action August 18that Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
