ANTIGONISH, NS (August 20, 2017)- Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team continued were back in action for round number ten of the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scoria. And it was a total team effort that earned them a fifth place result.
During the Saturday afternoon practice session the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was a handful for the Roxton Pond, Quebec driver. “We struggled during the practice and were looking to make some changes before qualifying” said Ranger.
Persistent rain showers took over and postponed the balance of the action until Sunday. With qualifying rained out cars lined up according to their fastest practice lap times and Ranger began the event from the 11th position.
Despite the handling changes made by the team when the green flag waved under sunny skies the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was still not the way Ranger wanted it. “The car was really tight in the beginning,” explained Ranger. “So at the first caution flag we stopped for more adjustments”.
That pattern would continue as the #27 Mopar Parts team continued to make pit stops during caution periods for further changes to the car. As the action moved into the second half of the scheduled distance Ranger began to improve his position. “We were kind of chasing back and forth between tight and loose all day but I was able to make up some positions,” said the driver.
In the closing stages of the race Ranger was under attack but kept the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge in position and crossed the finish line with a fifth place result. “It’s not as good a result as we want, but we made the best of our situation. The guys worked hard all day to make the car better, it’s a good job by the Mopar team to get all we could today” stated Ranger.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team return to action September 3rd during the NASCAR weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
