Vaughan, ON- In an effort to retain their Grand Am GT championship, Woodbridge, ON’s AIM Autosport-Racing with Ferrari has joined forces with R. Ferri Motorsport to contend the Grand Am Rolex GT Series in 2013. The newly created team, operating with backing from Remo Ferri’s Ferrari of Ontario/ Alberta dealerships, will campaign the #61 Ferrari 458 Italia GT car with drivers Jeff Segal and Max Papis in all 12 events on the Grand Am schedule.
States Team Principal Ferri, “This entry marks a strong return for R. Ferri Motorsport and we are excited to participate in a prestigious series with the finest brand in the world, Ferrari.”
Having claimed the drivers’ championship in 2012 with teammate Emil Assentato, Jeff Segal admits that the new Ferri/ AIM team has set high standards for the upcoming season.
“The expectations are pretty high for 2013,” notes Segal. “Coming off of a championship year, we’re expected to win right from the very first race at Daytona.”
For the 2013 campaign, former Formula One and Indy car driver, ‘Mad Max’ Papis, will occupy the second seat in the #61 Ferrari.
“There are no words to describe how excited I am,” proclaims Papis. “I’m 100% committed to this effort, and totally dedicated to this car. It means a lot to be back with a company like Ferrari, a company that has done so much for my career.”
The 2013 Grand Am Rolex Series begins with the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, scheduled for the weekend of January 26/ 27, before ultimately concluding its season at Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park on the final weekend of September.
