@FerrariUSA • @AIMautosport • @UnitedSportsCar • A three-pronged attack of Ferrari 458 Italias will be looking for more victories for the Prancing Horse at this weekend’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, in this 60th Anniversary year for Ferrari North America.
It was a Ferrari 333SP, driven by Rob Morgan and Ron Fellows, who first took a Ferrari victory at the circuit – then called Mosport International Raceway – in 1997. Risi Competizione scored three successive victories from 2006-2008 with the F430 GTC, while Extreme Speed Motorsports took the most recent victory with a 458 Italia in 2012.
Risi Competizione is seeking their fourth win at CTMP at this weekend’s race with the familiar no. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia in the GT-LeMans class. Drivers Pierre Kaffer and Giancarlo Fisichella have enjoyed one podium finish this season, at Laguna Seca.
In the GT-Daytona class, the AIM Autosport team with drivers Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell enter the weekend with a strong lead in the championship standings in the no. 555 AIM Autosport Ferrari 458 Italia. The duo finished second at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International on June 29.
The no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia driven by Alessandro Balzan and Jeff Westphal lays fifth in the GT-Daytona championship, after finishing fifth at Watkins Glen and winning the previous race at the Raceway at Belle Isle.
The combined efforts of AIM Autosport and Scuderia Corsa have Ferrari firmly atop the GT-Daytona manufacturer championship.
