MIRABEL, QC- In his first career appearance at Circuit ICAR, second-generation competitor Gary Klutt exuded the composure and poise of a veteran, running within the top-10 for the entirety of July 6th’s Jiffy Lube 100 presented by La Petite Bretonne, eventually carving out a head-turning 8th place finish.
“This is exactly the type of finish we were hoping for to kick start our season”, exclaimed a visibly excited Klutt post-race. “Our team has a shortened schedule this year, and our goal coming in was to make the most of every opportunity. It certainly feels as though we accomplished that this weekend”
Klutt rarely appeared out of place throughout the two-day event, qualifying his CTL Financing No. 59 9th quickest with a time of 1:37.290 ahead of a number of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil1 championship contenders.
“ICAR’s a very technical track, it was tough to set up the car”, admitted Klutt. “We developed a bit of a push around lap-10 and had to fight the car a little more than we would have liked to, but we’re happy with where we ended up”
With a top-10 finish in hand – his 2nd in just 3 career NCATS starts – Klutt now shifts focus to the second race of his 2014 schedule, the ‘JuliaWine.com Le 50 Tours’ at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres on August 10th.
“I can’t wait to see what kind of a run we can put together at Trois-Rivieres”, smiled Klutt. “It’ll be my first NCATS start there, but I have all the confidence in the world that this Legendary Motorcar team will bring me up to speed in a hurry”
