CAYUGA, ONTARIO (October 8, 2013) – Always one of the top contenders in the Pro Bike & Sled Series, John Orfanidis qualified number one or two for each of the six PBSS events in 2013.
The popular drag race series, which pits Pro Bike and Pro Sled riders using a Sportsman (full tree) timing system, is presented by Wiseco Performance Products.
Riding his Suzuki GSX-R for the Quality Automotive team in Pro Bike, the Toronto, Ontario rider started out well in the first event of the year at Martin, Michigan, qualifying number one, but was eliminated in the first round.
For the next three events, all held on the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, Orfanidis qualified first in two of the races and second in the other, but was plagued with bad luck during eliminations.
During the Stratford Spectacular Weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex, the next fifth race on the PBSS tour, Orfanidis once again took the number one spot in qualifying, and went rounds at Grand Bend, losing to 2013 series champion Dan Cryderman in the final round.
For the final event, also held at Grand Bend, he once again took the top spot with a 7.4-second, 177.16-mph posting, but could not stay in contention for the eliminations, going out in the first round.
Sponsored by Quality Automotive, Converter Man Ltd. and Diamond Trans, the Suzuki is powered by a 1755-cc Paul Gast engine from Fast By Gast and Vance and Hines transmission on a Tracs chassis with a carburetor fuel system. Mike Henriques is the crew chief on the team, with help from Peter Cifuentes, Alex Saragosa, and Fedon Orfanidis. The team has been part of the PBSS since its inception three years ago.
