MARTIN, MICHIGAN (April 24, 2013) – The 2013 season gets underway May 10-11 with the Thunder Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan for the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.
This will be the second trip for the three drag race series at the popular Michigan quarter-mile facility. Last year Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda, NY won the PMRA race over Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario. The Martin race will be the start of the PMRA’s ninth season of Pro Modified action.
Presented by NAPA Auto Parts, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series will begin its fifth year of competition. Last year at this race the Top Dragster of Jeff Moser of Bamberg, Ontario, won over Rob Gray of Ingersoll, Ontario in the Wilson & Gray Top Sportsman Cavalier.
Going into its third year, and presented by Wiseco Performance Products, John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario won the Martin race on his Pro Bike over the Pro Sled entry of Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario.
The Thunder Nationals will begin Friday, May 10 with qualifying at 6 pm. Qualifying will continue Saturday, May 11 at 2 pm with eliminations scheduled to begin at 7 pm. Also featured will be Jet Car action, Top Fuel Dragsters, and Super Stock racing.
US 131 Motorsports Park has been in providing top drag racing for over 50 years, and this year’s Thunder Nationals is the track’s 30th running of this popular opening event. For more information, go to www.us131msp.com.
This event will be the first of six events in 2013 for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS, and the first of eight races for the PMRA.
