CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 18, 2014)– The Pro Modified Racing Association will be showcasing its teams and drivers this weekend for its third event of the 2014 season.
The PMRA will take part in this weekend’s MOPAR IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals, held at the Grand Bend Motorplex June 20-22. This is the 14th annual such race, and is one of the largest event of its kind in Canada.
For several years the PMRA has been a big part of this event, and will continue this tradition once again, helping to celebrate its 10th year of operation.
Another tradition in PMRA history has been the Championship Point Award Series battles, and this year is no exception. Going into the Nitro Jam Nationals, three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland of Stoney Creek Ontario leads in points, followed closely by the North Tonawanda New York team of Jack and Sonny Grainy. Perennial contender Jeff Roth of New Dundee Ontario, is third with Derek Hawker of Corbyville Ontario, fourth and Jason Kalso of Clarkston Michigan fifth.
Along with these top five, there are several other PMRA teams in contention such as Jason White of Cicero New York, Denis Lachance of Quebec City Quebec, Alan Martorino of Cobourg Ontario, Gary Mater of Petrolia, Ontario and Bob Nagy of Welland Ontario, all new PMRA drivers for 2014.
One cannot dismiss several others, including Paolo Giust of Osgoode Ontario, Rob Atchison of London Ontario, Toronto’s Sam Andreacchi.
Winning this event in 2013 was PMRA racer Eric Latino of Port Perry Ontario.
This year’s IHRA race at Grand Bend promises to be one of the best, with racing in four nitromethane classes, the return of the Pro Stock class, a large jet car contingent, and a special treat with drag racing icon Don Garlits as the event’s Grand Marshal. “Big Daddy” will be on hand to sign autographs and display one of his iconic “Swamp Rat” dragsters.
