STROUD, ON (June 26, 2018)- After struggling with the car’s handling last week, Paul Maltese rebounded on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway with a pair of third-place finishes.
Qualifying fourth with a lap of 14.802 seconds, he’d battle side-by-side with Jordan Lawrence in the early stages, slipping back to fifth. He would then slip back another spot to sixth by Lap 11, but was escape to escape an incident ahead of with seven laps to go to move back up to fourth. Restarting inside the top-five, he’d battle with Ron Quesnelle through the final stages, and through a bit of contact, he crossed the line with a third-place finish.
Starting on pole for the second feature, he’d lead the opening half of the feature before being challenged for the top spot by eventual feature winner Jordan Lawrence at Lap 17. The pair would remain side-by-side for the next six laps, before Lawrence was able to clear Maltese for the lead. Maltese would run solidly in the second spot, until being passed by Danny Benedict with four laps to go. He would then battle hard through the final part of the feature, crossing the finish line in third.

Shout-out to Mike McColl and the staff at McColl Racing Enterprises for their help, as well. We were still dealing with some things, and know once they’re fixed, we’ll be even faster.”
The team will hope to run in the top-10 once again on Saturday, June 30 in the next night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model competition at Sunset Speedway. Maltese currently ranks sixth in the standings following six nights of racing.
