Stroud, ON (June 20, 2017)- Paul Maltese kept the solid finishes rolling on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway as he crossed the finish line with a top-10 finish.
Qualifying in 10th in the new group time trial format, he’d fall back at the initial start, battling side-by-side for 11th at Lap 9 with Danny Benedict. He’d lose out the battle, falling in line just outside the top-10. further up the field, contact happened, resulting in a pair of cars going around. Maltese was able to get by both spun drivers, moving up to eighth.
Restarting inside the top-10 with 14 laps remaining, he was able to be ahead of the big one when it struck in turn one two laps later. Following the second restart, he’d put together a solid bottom-end of the feature en route to crossing the finish line in eighth.
The second feature was not run as a result of a steady shower falling shortly after intermission. As a result, the plan is to make up the feature on the next night of racing – meaning that they will run triple features.
Now after a rough start to the season, Maltese has posted three straight top-10 performances, highlighted by a fourth place finish last week. He will look to keep the streak going on June 24 in the next night of competition at Sunset Speedway.
