Stroud, ON (June 20, 2017)- Starting mid-pack for the feature, Jordan Latimer unfortunately was unable to make up much ground before the checkered flag flew.
Under the new group car qualifying format, the JL Motorsports driver posted a lap to put him 17th on the board.
Starting the 35-lap feature in the 17th position, he’d drop back some positions, batting side-by-side with Ernie Fumerton for 19th at the halfway point. He’d lost the spot two laps later, with Ron Quesnelle getting alongside him for 20th. The first caution then flew with 14 laps remaining, giving Latimer an opportunity to head down pit road under the yellow flag for adjustments.
Restarting at the tail of the field, he would avoid a five-car wreck in turn one to move up some positions. From there on, he put together a solid final 13 laps en route to crossing the line in the 12th position.
The second feature was not run as a result of a steady shower falling shortly after intermission. As a result, the plan is to make up the feature on the next night of racing – meaning that they will run triple features.
Despite Saturday night not going as Latimer would’ve hoped, the year has seen some highlights with four top-10’s to date, including a third on opening night. He will hope to get back up front in the next event on June 24.
