Stroud, ON (May 17, 2017)- So far this year, it seems luck has to come by for Maltese Motorsports as they’d experience another rough night for the second straight week in a row.
Paul Maltese started off his night by posting a lap of 15.331 seconds in qualifying to start the first 35-lap feature from 15th. He began to make his way forward from the drop of the green flag, running 13th as of Lap 7. His strong car to the front would be cut short three laps later, though, as he’d be sent to the back after contact with a fellow competitor.
Restarting from the tail end of the field, Maltese was able to make up some ground, but ultimately crossed the finish line in 13th.
Hoping for a strong run in the second feature, Maltese began in 13th, though dropped back in the initial 13-lap run two spots back to 15th. He’d avoid an incident on the restart, though, allowing himself to climb back up one position. The 14th-place position became his friend, remaining there all the way till the third caution of the event at Lap 23. Once again, he avoided contact ahead of him on the restart to move himself up another spot to 13th.
Looking to close out the race strong, he was set on possibly cracking the top-10. However, with two laps to go, he’d begin to slow as a result of a mechanical problem, handing him another rough finish.
With success last season in the form of 11 top-10’s, Maltese knows his team is capable of running well this year. He’ll look to make it happen at this weekend’s Spring Velocity invitational at Sunset Speedway on May 20 and 21.
Maltese and team are proud to be supported by Presto Appliance Repair, Delmeade Construction, Paragon Office Installations, Leitch Performance . Blue Sky Contracting and Landscape, Ontario Steel Sales, Essies Poultry Farms, Auto Trim Design, and OAS.
