INNISFIL, Ontario (May 17, 2017) — Despite battling some adversity, Jordan Latmer was able to put together another solid performance on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Latimer kicked off the night on a solid note, putting in another impressive time trial effort with the third quickest lap time at 15.140 seconds. Surrounded by veterans and past feature winners, the third generation racer dropped back in the beginning stages, eventually dropping back to ninth by Lap 27. He’d then hold off Billy Zardo in the final laps to cross the finish line in ninth.
With hopes of a stronger run for the second feature, Latimer drew the eighth starting spot in the re-draw. He’d keep himself solidly in contention, battling side-by-side with last year’s division champion Gord Shepherd for ninth at Lap 7. He’d fair well, remaining there till the first caution at Lap 13.
He’d get a solid restart, though fell back two spots to 11th as of the next caution of the event at Lap 23. With a tire going down, he’d continue to fight hard but ultimately crossed the finish line just outside of the top-10.
With a seventh and third on opening night, Latimer knows his team can get the job done if given the chance. He’ll try and make it happen in the next NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model event on Sunday, May 28. Set to begin at 3pm EST, it will serve as the make-up for the rain-out on May 6.
