FRASERVILLE, ON – For the second time in 2012 rain and inclement weather systems have forced the cancellation of OSCAAR racing at Kawartha Speedway. Friday night’s scheduled program featuring the 14th annual 75-lap Don Biederman Memorial will not run at the Fraserville, ON oval. Track promoter Derek Lynch announced the cancellation at approximately 8:30am EST in order to help a number of the drivers avoid making the drive to the track.
The cancellation means the OSCAAR Super Late Model schedule will now be shortened to 11 races, with no date available to make up the extra race at Kawartha Speedway. The 14th running of the Biederman Memorial has been rescheduled for Friday, September 7, originally the date for the cancelled June 1st race. The event on September 7 will now feature the 75-lap Don Biederman Memorial as well as a 25-lap feature for the OSCAAR Modifieds. Both OSCAAR series will be joined that night by Kawartha’s regular Late Model, Thunder Car, and Mini Stock Divisions.
Not all OSCAAR drivers were able to avoid making the drive towards Kawartha, as Sault Ste. Marie, ON driver George Wilson made the long haul from ‘The Soo’ on Thursday night in preparation for the scheduled Friday show.
The OSCAAR Super Late Models will next be in action at Delaware Speedway on Friday, August 24 for a 50-lap feature alongside a 25-lap race for the OSCAAR Modifieds.
