(November 25, 2019)- Since the checkered flag waved in October, OSCAAR officials have been preparing for the upcoming 2020 season, set to put on another year of stellar racing across the province.

The 2020 season promises to be the biggest yet, as OSCAAR celebrates 30 years of racing heritage across the province of Ontario. Since 1990, they have been making a name for themselves, becoming the premiere destination for top-shelf side-by-side racing.

The same type of action is expected to return once again, thanks to co-operation between the series and track promoters to put together a schedule packed with excitement at every turn.

The schedule, consisting of 19 weeks of racing, will see each of OSCAAR’s three divisions do battle in front of the fans – the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds, the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods, and the Living Lighting OSCAAR Pro Sprints.

The 2020 season will kick off on Victoria Day weekend on May 16 and 17, with all three divisions competing in the Spring Velocity event at Sunset Speedway. The Pro Sprints will run their full show (qualifying and features) on Saturday, while the Hot Rods & Modifieds will qualify on Saturday, followed by their features on Sunday.

The following week, the Pro Sprints will make their first trip of the season to Peterborough Speedway. After watching Daniel Hawn and James Stanley trade wins last year at Canada’s toughest 1/3 mile, it’s anybody guess who will visit victory lane in 2020.

The month of June will kick off at Jukasa Motor Speedway, with the Modifieds and Hot Rods joining the NASCAR Pinty’s Series for the second straight year in a row. Last year’s modified event saw the top-three battle throughout, with John Harper ultimately coming out on top ahead of J.R. Fitzpatrick and Chad Strawn.

A week later, both the Modifieds and Hot Rods will be in action at Delaware Speedway. The night is expected to be filled with excitement, as the half-mile will also be hosting school bus racing that night.

Following a week off, the month of June will be capped off at Sunset Speedway, as part of the track’s Canada Day weekend festivities. All three divisions – Modifieds, Hot Rods, and Pro Sprints – will be in action, with a fan appreciation autograph session scheduled for intermission.

The month of July will kick off at Peterborough Speedway, with the Hot Rods in action on July 4. It is a must-attend night for any race fan as there’s a fan appreciation autograph session and it’s toonie night – meaning it will only cost you $2.00 to enjoy the action.

The modifieds will get their first taste of action in July a week later, with their second visit of 2020 to Jukasa Motor Speedway. It marks the first year that they will be visiting Canada’s Crown Jewel on two occasions in a single season following a pair of successful shows the past two years. This will be another must-attend event for race fans, with the ISMA Super Modifieds also in action.

The Pro Sprints will return to action in the series’ first trip to Sauble Speedway of the season on July 18, joined by the Modifieds and Hot Rods. It will mark the first time that the modifieds have been there since 2018, with the Hot Rods looking to follow up their stellar inaugural appearance in 2018 that ultimately saw Billy Alderson Jr. visit victory lane.

All three divisions will then head to Sunset Speedway to finish off the month on July 25 for their third appearance of 2020 at the Innisfil, Ontario oval.

A busy month of August will begin at Peterborough Speedway, with the Modifieds and Pro Sprints in action this time around. Canada’s toughest 1/3 mile always produces exciting features for the open-wheel stars, with several feature winners being decided in the final five laps through the years.

The Hot Rods will get their first taste of action in August a week later, with their annual dirt race at Brighton Speedway. Since being introduced to the schedule, each year has seen an exciting event put together as the drivers tackle the challenge of sliding around the clay oval.

The Modifieds will make their second appearance at Delaware Speedway on August 15, joined by the ISMA Super Modifieds.

The following weekend, all three divisions will head to Sauble Speedway for their second trip of the season to the beach. The Pro Sprints will get a double dose, returning a week later for a third event on August 29.

The Hot Rods will also sneak in another event before the month closes, taking on Peterborough Speedway on Sunday, August 30 as part of the Canadian Legend Car Nationals.

The month of September will begin on Labor Day weekend at Jukasa Motor Speedway. For the second straight year, the Hot Rods will be part of the Canadian Short Track Nationals weekend. The weekend is always a must-attend for race fans across the province, with $125,000 up for grabs to the driver who wins the 250-lap Pro Late Model event.

As the tracks being to end off their seasons with big events, OSCAAR will be once again taking part in those, as well.

All three divisions will be in action at Sunset Speedway for Fall Velocity weekend on September 19 and 20. Just like the spring event, the pro sprints will run their full show on Saturday, with the modifieds and hot rods qualifying Saturday and running their feature on Sunday.

The Modifieds will then be in action two weeks later at Flamboro Speedway, taking part in London Recreational Racing’s Frostoberfest for the first time on October 3.

The champions will then be crowned a couple weeks later at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic, which is scheduled for October 10th through the 12th. Throughout the three-day Thanksgiving weekend, all three divisions will be action with everything culminating with three titles being handed out.

After seeing 15 different drivers celebrate in feature victory lane over the course of the 2019 season, it’s fair to say that the competition is high across the board. Now the busy schedule ensures fans across the

entire province will have a chance to experience the high-action packed racing that OSCAAR has been known for through the past 29 years to become Ontario’s premier short track racing series.
