PETERBOROUGH, ON (May 26, 2019)- Like so many other racetracks and touring series, the Ontario Legends Series has seen its fair share of inclement weather this spring.
Undaunted, the travelling group is ready set to return to Peterborough Speedway on Saturday, June 1st for its second event of the 2019 season. Series official Jeff Drimmie says that drivers and teams are hoping for a change in forecast fortunes with the arrival of a new month and the track’s first Summer Toonie Night of the year.
“Everyone is getting anxious to get some racing under their belts,” Drimmie offered. “This should be our 4th event of the schedule, but thanks to Mother Nature, its only the 2nd. Our teams are ready to go. The car counts are strong, with more than 25 at the Peterborough opener and close to 30 before the rains came at Sunset. Its time to rock n’ roll. All we need now is some co-operation on the weather front.”
Drimmie also pointed out that this weekend’s event is the second show in the Peterborough Speedway Legends Challenge Cup, presented by Clarke Motorsports Communications. At the end of the year, a $100 cash bonus will be presented to the driver who scores the most points in the 7 Ontario Legends Series events on the Peterborough Speedway calendar.
The Saturday, June 1st show features $2.00 spectator grandstand admission and a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission. Also on the program will be the home track Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck and Late Model divisions. Pit gates will open at 1:30, with general admission access at 4:00 and racing at 5:00.
