STROUD, ON (April 29, 2019)- There’ll be some shakin’ going on at short tracks across the province as the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series gets set to stir things up with its 2019 schedule. Things get off and rockin’ Saturday, May 4th at Sunset Speedway and with more than 50 teams registered for action on this year’s tour, fans should be ready for an exciting season.
“Combing the Eastern and Western divisions into a single series will give everyone a shot at the championship,” said OLS official Jeff Drimmie. “We’re looking forward to breaking the seal on things for the new season and taking Legends racing in the province to the next level. Nearly 30 teams have already confirmed their attendance for this weekend’s Sunset Speedway opener.”
Drimmie says about handful of drivers have already logged some track time, with former series titleholder Nick Ledson turning-in a strong performance in claiming the Lone Star Spring Battle championship, at Texas Motor Speedway. Ledson, Kevin Foisy, Jeff Drimmie, Ryan MackIntosh, Dawson Drimmie and reigning series champion Matt Haufe also ran at Carteret County Speedway in Peletier, North Carolina; site of this year’s INEX Legends Asphalt Nationals.
Changes have also been made behind the scenes, with Andrew Massey and Willy Howells joining the Ontario Legends Series raceday team. Massey – a former Peterborough Speedway 4Fun runner and current Legends Series racer – will be helping with the tour web-site and media projects. Howells – who won championships in the Pure Stock class at the former Mosport Speedway and raced with the Legends Series – will work with the technical crew.
