With 25 laps on the table or a 25-minute window of opportunity, Mark Griffin and Keaton Pipe led the way as the 17-car Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series presented by KOD Disposal starting field hit the track for the headline event on Saturday, June 13th at Peterborough Speedway.
Griffin was the early race leader before he surrendered the spot he’d taken from the drop of the green flag to Pipe with less than a handful of laps on the scoreboard. The young lion led the way with Caleb Drimmie, Adam Cuthbertson, Parker Traves and reigning series champion Dawson Drimmie rounding out the fast five as teams started to work through slower traffic with nine laps complete.
Cuthbertson – a former two-time series champion – moved into the runner-up position and had his sights set on the back bumper of the race leader when the first caution flag waved for an issue on the backstretch with 13 laps on the board. Traves wrestled away the lead with 16 laps complete and the driver of the No. 08 machine held on for the win. A storm front moved in and rain ended the main event with 20 of 25 laps in the books. Pipe, Cuthbertson, Drimmie and Gibson Baker completed the top-five.
Mark Griffin, Austin Milwain, Matt Thompson, Andrew McFadden, Rob Eggleton, Hailey McNicol, Andy Toms, Austin Seaboyer, Michael Harling, Chris Milwain and Nathan Huffman rounded out the Ontario Legend Car finishing order. Caleb Drimmie, originally credited with a 16th-place finish, was disqualified after his crew worked on his car while it was still on the track.
Mark Griffin, Parker Traves, Adam Cuthbertson and Dawson Drimmie won Ontario Legend Car Series qualifying heats earlier in the day.
Peterborough Speedway will play host to the next three events on the Ontario Legend Car Series schedule, with Saturday dates on June 27th, July 4th and July 18th. Follow the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series at your favourite track or through the group’s social media pages and platforms.
