@Sunset_Speedway •Stroud, ON (September 18, 2016)- Throughout the 2016 season, fans of asphalt open-wheeled racing have seen some of the province’s most exciting action during Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – events. The popular tour concludes its current campaign with back-to-back shows – Saturday and Sunday – September 24th and 25th.

Even with crowd favourite John Baker Jr. holding the hot hand and all but guaranteed this year’s point championship, the standings throughout the top dozen positions are incredible tight and likely to change before the final checkered flag. Randy Hollingsworth – who along with Rick Warnes and Bill Pickford make-up the team of OMRS officials – says its been an impressive season, with plenty of promise for the future.

“Its been a great year and there’s no disputing the level of success that JBJ has enjoyed on the tour,” said Hollingsworth. “That has the other drivers in the series working to step-up their programs to get close to where he’s been running. People have seen how popular our brand has become and we’re already hearing from teams that are looking to come on-board and join our series for 2017.”

While all indications point to John Baker Jr. as the heir apparent to this year’s Ontario Modifieds Racing Series throne, Hollingsworth is also quick to note that there is a virtual log-jam throughout the rest of the point chase. The pair of Ryan Babin and Christopher Mulders is 3rd in the order, with Robert Warnes and Ryan Dick deadlocked for the 4th spot, just 8 markers behind. Hollingsworth himself is 46 points back of that duo, with Rick Warnes less than a dozen points behind. There is only a 30-point margin between 7th and 12th, heading into the season’s final weekend.

As part of the track’s Velocity Weekend at Sunset Speedway – the biggest show of the year at the venue north of Toronto – the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series will run their qualifying heats during Saturday, September 24th program and a main event Sunday, September 25th.
