SOUTHAMPTON, ON- With a pair of brand new race cars in his NG Motorsports shop, fourth-year Late Model competitor Nick Goetz is set to tackle the most aggressive schedule of his young career in 2015.
The 2014 Peterborough Speedway ‘Chase for the Colours’ winner will once again return to fulltime competition at Sunset Speedway, with hopes of earning his first career Saturday night victory.
“Our win at Peterborough was huge for our confidence, but we really want to get to victory lane at Sunset,” explains Goetz. “There isn’t a tougher field anywhere in Ontario. I know that we have what it takes to beat them. We just have to put it all together this season”
Goetz will work extensively with McColl Racing Enterprise’s Rick McColl throughout the season, and is confident that McColl’s presence in the pit area on a weekly basis will help Goetz establish a base from which to work with.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to be aligned with some incredibly talented people, but putting everyone’s schedules together in seasons past has been a challenge,” says Goetz. “There were weeks last season where we had all the help we would ever need in the pits one week, and we’d be on our own the next. It made it tough to get into a rhythm because it felt as though things were always changing”
“This year, having Rick and his guys at every single one of our races is going to make all the difference in the world,” continues Goetz. “I’m still learning as a driver. Being surrounded by a team with this much experience is going to make a world of difference”
In addition to ‘Livewire’s weekly commitments at Sunset, his NG Motorsports team will also follow the APC United Late Model Series presented by Grisdale Racing Products on a fulltime basis. Goetz will have a brand new McColl Racing Enterprises chassis ready for the opening tour event on May 23rd.
“I’ve always thought that the only way I’m going to improve is to race against the best competition out there,” offers Goetz. “So, as soon as I started seeing the drivers that were registering for the APC Tour, I immediately knew that I wanted to get involved”
“The guys at MRE have been working hard on our brand new Pro Late Model, and it should be ready just in time for a shakedown ahead of the first round of the tour”
“With this level of talent, we’re not looking to come out and set the world on fire,” admits Goetz. “We’re utilizing the tour as a way to get a handle on other speedways that we’re not used to running on a regular basis and learning from some of the absolute best drivers in the province.”
Marketing support for Nick Goetz’s 2015 season will come from Lake Huron Rod & Gun, Mondo Car Wash, Boston Pizza, Super 8 Motel, Lord Elgin Fish & Chips, Rosner’s Service Centre, Roberto’s Pizzeria, Great Lakes Concrete, Austin Graphics and ImageWraps.ca.
