ACTON, ON- Reigning Sunset Speedway Mini Stock champion Brandon McFerran will open up his 2015 season this Saturday, April 25th at Flamboro Speedway’s ‘Mini Stock Invitational’.
McFerran – a former Flamboro Speedway regular – won the track’s prestigious Oktoberfest Classic in 2012 and is eager to return to the familiar facility.
“Flamboro’s still one of my favourite tracks in Ontario, I love going back there,” smiles McFerran. “It’s a driver’s track. It can be real tough to get around. But once you find that rhythm, it’s a tonne of fun”
“We’ve had a lot of success there in the past,” continues McFerran. “I grew up in the pits at Flamboro. So, anytime we can unload there and pull off a strong performance, it means a little bit more than it would anywhere else”
‘The Astronaut’ enters the 2015 season intent on securing back-to-back championships at Sunset, and hopes that a victory at Flamboro will help build momentum for Sunset’s season opener on May 2nd.
“A win at Flamboro would go a long way,” explains the well-spoken teenager. “We’ve spent all winter working on this car. We’ve gone through it completely – from front to back. Just doing whatever we can to try and make it better”
“If we unload at Flamboro and can take down a strong run in our first night out, it lets us know that we’re moving in the right direction”
“It’s amazing how big of an impact a win can have on a team early in the season,” continues McFerran. “Last year – it took us a few weeks to get our first win. Hopefully we can put together a faster start in 2015.”
